About Superior
Superior grew up around silver and copper mining, beginning with the Silver King claim in 1875. The townsite was named after the Lake Superior and Arizona Copper Company, and the town incorporated in 1976. For much of the 20th century its economy centered on the Magma Mine, which William Boyce Thompson's Magma Copper Company opened in 1910 and which closed for good in 1996. Scott covers all of Superior, including:
- Main Street: the historic downtown, home to the Magma Hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the 1910 house of Governor Robert Taylor Jones, now the Bob Jones Museum.
- US 60: the highway businesses at the west end of town, including the World's Smallest Museum.
- The neighborhoods below Apache Leap: the escarpment above town is protected in an 839-acre special management area of the Tonto National Forest.
Superior uses ZIP code 85173. Just west of town is Boyce Thompson Arboretum, founded in 1924 at the base of Picket Post Mountain. Just east, US 60 runs through the 1952 Queen Creek Tunnel on the way to Miami and Globe. Scott serves those towns too. See the Miami page. See the Globe page.
What Superior homeowners call about
Superior is an older town with an older population: the median age at the 2020 Census was 50.4, and 29.2% of residents were 65 or older. That shapes the work:
- Older homes and worn locks: Scott repairs what's worth keeping, rekeys so one key opens every door, or installs new deadbolts and handlesets.
- Rekeys: after you buy a home, lose a key, change tenants, or hand keys to a caretaker. A rekey changes the pins inside your existing locks so only your new keys work. More on rekeying and home locks.
- Keypad locks: handy for family members who check on the house, and for anyone away part of the year.
- Safes: opening a safe when the combination is lost or the keypad dies, replacing safe locks, and moving safes. More on safe services.
Locksmith service for Superior businesses
For the shops, restaurants, lodging and offices on Main Street and US 60, Scott handles rekeys after staff changes, master key systems, exit devices and panic bars, door closers, high-security cylinders, and safe service. Businesses can pay by card, Zelle or check, or set up purchase orders and net terms with a written agreement. More on commercial locksmith service.
