Surprise communities Scott covers

Surprise was founded in 1938 by Flora Mae Statler and incorporated in 1960. Today it covers about 110 square miles. Scott covers all of it, including:

  • Original Town Site: about one square mile along Grand Avenue, the city's original neighborhood.
  • Sun City Grand: an active adult community built by Del Webb from 1996 to 2005, with four golf courses. Unlike Sun City and Sun City West, it's inside Surprise city limits.
  • Surprise City Center: about a square mile around City Hall, between Bell and Greenway roads, including the Surprise Recreation Campus, Surprise Stadium and Ottawa University Arizona.
  • Marley Park: a master-planned community opened in 2005.
  • Sierra Montaña: a community at the foot of the White Tank Mountains, west of Loop 303.
  • Asante: a Lennar-led community near 163rd Avenue that's expected to pass 14,000 homes when complete.
  • Prasada: the master-planned area at Loop 303 and Waddell Road, anchored by the Village at Prasada shopping center.

Surprise ZIP codes include 85374, 85378, 85379, 85387 and 85388. Scott also serves Sun City West, Peoria and the rest of the West Valley. See the Peoria page.

What Surprise homeowners call about

Surprise is a homeowner city: 79.1% of homes are owner-occupied, and about 22% of residents are 65 or older, according to the Census. It's also still building out, with new homes going up in Asante, Prasada and other northwest neighborhoods. That shapes the work:

  • Rekeys after closing: on a new home, keys pass through builders, subcontractors and agents. A rekey changes the pins inside your existing locks so only your new keys work. More on rekeying and home locks.
  • Part-year residents: if you leave for the summer or hand keys to a caretaker, a rekey before you go means only the keys you give out will work.
  • Keypad and smart locks: a code you can change from a distance is handy for part-year homes and for family members who check on the house.
  • Safes: opening a safe when the combination is lost or the keypad dies, replacing safe locks, and moving safes during a move. More on safe services.

A note for HOA communities

Sun City Grand and most of Surprise's master-planned communities have design guidelines for the outside of a home. Check yours before you pick a new finish or style for front-door hardware. A rekey changes only the inside of the lock, so it doesn't change how the door looks.

Locksmith service for Surprise businesses

Surprise's largest employers include the Dysart Unified School District, the City of Surprise, Sun Health and retailers along Bell Road and Loop 303. Scott handles the work an office, shop, clinic or school needs:

  • Master key systems so each employee's key opens only the doors they need
  • Rekeys after staff changes, so a former employee's key stops working
  • Exit devices, panic bars and door closers
  • High-security cylinders, including Medeco, Mul-T-Lock and Schlage
  • Safe opening, electronic safe locks and safe moving for cash and records

Businesses can pay by card, Zelle or check, or set up purchase orders and net terms with a written agreement. More on commercial locksmith service.

Is Surprise inside your local pricing area?

No. Typical lockout prices apply within 15 driving miles of Scott's base in San Tan Valley, and Surprise is about 82 miles or more away. Surprise jobs are call for pricing, so ask for the price on your job when you call.

How far is Surprise from San Tan Valley?

About 82 miles by road to Sun City Grand and about 84 miles to Surprise City Center.

I'm leaving for the summer. Should I rekey?

It's a good time to. A rekey makes every old key stop working, so only the keys you hand to a neighbor, caretaker or house-sitter will open the door while you're away.

Do you make car keys?

No. Scott handles car lockouts in Surprise, including at Surprise Stadium, but doesn't make, cut or program car keys or fobs.
